Q & A for the 2006-07 Nurse Faculty Lines Program

Q: The application states that program proposals should address how the school will use the funds to assist current faculty to complete advanced degrees. Does it matter if the funds are used to complete a masters degree or doctorate?
A: Either degree would be eligible.

Q: Why does the application require the narrative to omit any information that identifies the school?
A: To make the selection of grant recipients as fair as possible, the committee will review and rank each proposal according to the applicants’ ability to best use the funds in accordance with the objectives of the Nurse Faculty Lines Program. We do not want the Committee to be influenced by the school that is submitting the proposal.

Q: The guidance states that "the narrative must also omit any information that identifies the applicant(s)." Does this refer to the identity of specific faculty or the identity of the institution?
A: Institution.

Q: How many faculty lines will be available?
A: Subject to available funding, currently there are five to eight faculty lines that donors have committed to provide.

Q: What is the maximum dollar amount one faculty line will provide?
A: $50,000 a year renewable for three years or a total of $150,000 over three years.

Q: Our institution is for-profit. Does this mean that our school would not be eligible for funding through for this program?
A: Yes.

Q: Can a request combine a funding request for a faculty line(s) with a funding request to support current faculty to complete doctoral studies?
A: Yes
